If you count the number of commercials that advertise food during the dinner window, you’d be well in to the triple digits.

Marketing executives are crafty. They know how to appeal to our senses and feed our desires. (Pun intended.)

Once you see the piping-hot-melted-cheese-fresh-out-of-the-oven-pizza, you are tempted to dial up with your order. (Or since it is 2017, tap the Uber Eats app.)

These strategies make billions, but the concepts are Biblical.

What we see, we desire–unless we “see the bigger picture.”

Just ask any soon-to-be-mom who declines spicy food because of indigestion or high-blood pressure patient who eliminates salt to avoid a prescription.

We must think longer-term and bigger-picture.

This week’s ABC scripture memorization reminds us that we must live for something bigger than our “because-I-want-it” desire. We must adopt the desires of the Spirit and surrender our fleshly and worldly ways to receive the special gifts of peace and joy that are ours–if we choose them.

With love for a Spirit-filled week,

ABC Scripture Memorization [Letter T] “Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the
flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have
their minds set on what the Spirit desires.”
