When I first started my weight loss journey, a trainer abruptly commented, “Well, you didn’t get fat with one meal, you won’t get skinny with one workout.”

While my feelings were hurt, the message was loud and clear: consistency leads to results–based upon “good” or “bad” choices–the outcome would follow.

Over the years my weight loss journey morphed into a health journey. I shifted my focus from a size, number on a scale, and hours spent at the gym to how I felt–in my body and about my body. This has been a game changer. (You can see the visual depiction of my journey from my early teens to my mid-40s. Lord, have mercy.)

I share these sentiments (and embarrassing pics) with you, as an opportunity for personal reflection:

  1. Are you on a weight loss journey or in pursuit of better health?
  2. What consistent choices and actions are you making to support your response to #1?

I want to remind you, dear one: the same day you plant the seed is not the same day you eat the fruit.

Here’s to better health–spirit, soul, and body.

“No training seems pleasant at the time. In fact, it seems painful.
But later on it produces a harvest of godliness and peace.
It does this for those who have been trained by it.”
