“It will do…”

This pretty much sums up the plight of Abram and his family when they set off for Ur.

Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot son of Haran,
and his daughter-in-law Sarai, the wife of his son Abram,
and together they set out from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to Canaan.
But when they came to Harran, they settled there.”

Gen 11:31
Their initial journey began with a destination in mind, but they stopped short.
Maybe they got too tired.
Maybe it was too hot.
Maybe there was tension among the family. (Hello, family roadtrip!?!)

We don’t know why they chose to stop in Harran, but we do know that this lead to a series of crazy twists and turns (including murder and an illegitimate child) in Abram’s life. But don’t worry! Despite his many mishaps, in typical-God-like fashion, He fulfilled His promise and made a great nation from Abraham.

And He has specially wrapped promises for you, too, sunshine!

This message is to encourage someone who may have settled for something.
A relationship.
A career.
An education.
A weight loss goal.
A financial benchmark.

Or for someone who might be wondering if God could use you because of your “dark past.” (Believe me, sunshine, I know from firsthand experience: every saint has a past, every sinner has a future!)

Indeed, He can!
But you must do your part and refuse to settle.
Refuse to stay where you are.

Start new today.
Make a choice to do the next right thing.
Align your thoughts and actions with God’s Word.
Trust God and do good (Ps. 37:3) and when God’s ready to move, watch out–
the harvest will be plentiful.

Keep pressing on, sunshine.
You’re God’s plan A; there is no plan B!

ABC Scripture memorization: Letter [R] Refuse to settle and you will reap the reward!
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time
we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
Gal 6:9
