If you’re trying to save money, the mall is not the best place to beat the summer heat on a Saturday afternoon.

If you’re trying to lose weight, offering to make cupcakes for a Memorial Day picnic might not be the best option for your contribution.

If you’re trying to resolve some issues in your marriage, your male colleague might not be the best commuter buddy.

If you’re trying to gossip less, meeting “the girls” for happy hour might put you in the hot seat.

All of this to say, that avoiding temptation is the best way to resist it.

The Message version of this week’s ABC scripture verse is one of my absolute favorites. It’s cold, hard truth.

Let your “Yes!” be “Yes!” and your “No!” be “No!”
You may have to hit rock bottom to “get it”, but stop, repent, and get back up. Align your thoughts and actions with God and move on for cryin’ out loud.
(This is the FF paraphrased version…)
Lord only knows that I have to follow these steps on a daily basis. I love me some Snickers minis (which I do not keep in the house!) and sometimes when someone cuts me off in traffic, I am tempted to share a little bit of my “not-so-loving-love-language.”

This is why it’s so important to spend time with God, aligning our thoughts with His Word and submitting our will to His (and avoiding the candy aisle at Target, too!)

Simple, but not easy right, sunshine?
I’d love to hear how you avoid temptation or perhaps you need some prayer in this area. Hit reply and let me know.

With love,

 Frannie
ABC Scripture Memorization: Letter [S] “So let God work his will in you. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him scamper. Say a quiet yes to God and he’ll be there in no time. Quit dabbling in sin. Purify your inner life. Quit playing the field. Hit bottom, and cry your eyes out. The fun and games are over. Get serious, really serious. Get down on your knees before the Master; it’s the only way you’ll get on your feet.”
James 4: 7-10 (MSG)
