Imagine, sunshine.
You are a world-class athlete, let’s say a soccer player, and you’ve been selected to represent the USA at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
You train for years, dedicating hours every day to becoming your best.
You have coaches, nutritionists, physical therapists, and even sports psychologists who help you prepare for your dream-come-true.
The day comes.
You travel to Japan with your teammates and arrive at the field for your first Olympic game.
Pre-game jitters are in full effect.
You survey the field and realize there’s something missing–something’s wrong, like really wrong, sunshine.
There is no goal.
Not even a goal area marked off on the field.
The officials tell you to go out and play your best–give it your all, this is the moment you’ve been waiting for!
Wait! What?
You’ve trained for years to come and run around for hours on a field?
What’s the purpose of that?
Does that sound familiar, sunshine?
Well, let me tell you, I’ve spent many days, weeks, months and sadly even years, running aimlessly around on life’s field without a goal in sight, without a vision of what God’s desires are for my life.
While you may not be training for an Olympic endeavor, sunshine, let me remind you, you are unlike any other “player”–and you are in constant training for God’s team global “team”. (1 Tim 4:8)
You’re original, and God has divinely designed you with talents and skills that are not just to be showcased during life’s big events, rather day in and day out, minute by minute.
Your thoughts.
Your words.
Your actions.
Your character.
And all of them are intended to bring Him glory.
I love Rick Warren’s charge, “God is not as concerned with your uniqueness as He is your effectiveness.”
This is a game changer for me and has become my life’s mission–to use my uniqueness to be effective.
I know that God has made no other Frannie Foltz, and He has gifted me with special skills, talents, desires and passions so that I can work among the world to be a change agent for The Kingdom. And He’s done the same for you, sunshine.
If you’ve been running around on life’s field uncertain of your God-given gifts, or what to do with your life circumstances–the good, the bad, the fortunate, the unfortunate–or what the next step is in your life, I would love for you to join me at Be My Vision, a women’s retreat this fall in Florida.
Be My Vision is an opportunity to gather with other faith-filled women to be rejuvenated, reenergized, and refocused.
During this interactive conference, you will strengthen spiritual and physical muscles through Bible study and fitness workshops–three sessions of each–six sessions in less than 24 hours, sunshine! (Don’t worry, y’all–the fitness sessions are designed with every-BODY in mind; all body and fitness levels are invited!)
This intimate, one-and-a-half-day conference is taking place on Friday, November 2-Saturday, November 3 here in Melbourne, Florida (on the beach!) and is designed to encourage you and help you get clarity on areas of your life using God’s Word so that you can be an even more effective member of the body of The Church. (1 Corin 12:12-27)
So rally your fellow sisters and plan for a little beach getaway with a spiritual purpose this fall–I promise you–you won’t regret investing the time and resources to honor God and grow in character (and move your body, too!). “Truth, wisdom, learning, and good sense — these are worth paying for, but too valuable to sell.” Prov 23:23GNT
