So often we pray small prayers.
We put limits on God’s power.
Sometimes we fear praying big because we don’t want to be disappointed, especially after a wave of disappointing life happenings. And sometimes we are afraid of sharing those thoughts with others in fear they’d think we’d lost our minds. (Have I ever told you about my dream for my faith-based-family-value-and-variety-talk show, Frannie on Five? That’s an entirely different message for another day, sunshine…)
But here is the best part: God wants us to pray the unimaginable, for it is then that people will see His glory made manifest through us.
I think Mama Joyce (one of my spiritual mothers and mentors, Joyce Meyer) reinforces this message perfectly:
“I’d rather believe for a lot and get half of it
than believe for a little and get all of it.”
sunshine, as you set your mind to memorize this week’s scripture [letter N], I encourage you to write a big, wild, crazy, and even scary dream each day–something that only God could ever achieve.
At the end of your daily prayers, be sure to include the four most important words of all, “Thy will be done.”
He is constantly at work in us, and His work will be made complete in us (Phil 1:6) and even if our prayers aren’t answered the way we’d imagined, they’ll be answered according to His plans and will. (Her 29:11)
