Thank you so much for your response to my request for feedback about what today’s women struggle with the most.
I was overwhelmed by the number of responses and was especially surprised to see that body image, confidence, and feelings of “less than” or “not enough” were at the top of the list.
This is not good, sunshine.
We know that when we struggle to love our bodies, we relay that message to the world. Staying dressed in your cover up at the beach, wearing oversized sweaters to mask your nearly A chest, or making fun of your tree-trunk legs are shouts of unacceptance and disapproval of the skin we’re in. Our inability to love our body keeps everyBODY else at arms’ length. Also, this can become a generational problem because we may be influencing younger ones around us, making our shame story theirs.
And when we lack confidence about our strengths and abilities, we often make choices that keep us safe in our comfort zones–that leave us “playing small.” Whether too insecure to end an unhealthy relationship, explore a new career that leaves everyone thinking you’re crazy because it’s “something you don’t know how to do”, or even trying a new hobby like snowboarding, by never trying, we build walls–blocking opportunity out and caving ourselves in. Lack of confidence leads us further down the rabbit hole.
Finally, I was surprised by the number of responses reporting that women feel “less than” and “not enough”. While we know that the social media does an amazing job of connecting us, it can also be very divisive as we play the comparison game. Sizing ourselves up to our high school BFF’s latest weekend getaway or your former co-worker’s upsized McMansion can often leave us deflated. And of course, feelings of “not enough” can overwhelm us:
Not enough time to send a “thinking of you” card to a loved one.
Not enough time to make it to the gym.
Not enough energy to volunteer at the food bank.
This is NOT what I want for you, sunshine.
So I’ve decided to host a private workshop for this group and my social media lists. I have spots for 25 and would love you to join, sunshine.
I am going to cover how to:
- Claim your power as you break the acceptance-and-approval-cycle of addiction to be able to say “no” with confidence
- Seek joy, love, and peace with yourself and others that is offered through the Creator of them all
- Believe that you are “more than enough”—just as Christ consistently assures us—rather than “less than…”—which the world constantly reminds us
- Use biblically based strategies to confidently overcome feelings of insecurity, fear, rejection, loneliness, and sadness rather than medicating them
It’s all happening live on Thursday, January 21, 2016 @ 7:30p.m. EST.
Click here to reserve your space in the workshop.
As of right now, there are nearly 3000+ people in this group and on my social media lists and just 25 spaces, so claim your spot in this live workshop now.
I look forward to seeing you there, sunshine.
